Safety Culture
What is a ‘Safety Always’ culture? ‘Safety Always’ means that safety for all our projects starts at the bidding process and is carried out even as the tools and equipment arrive back at the yard after the job is completed.
This process is practiced by including our field staff in the bidding process for complex and high-risk jobs. This ensure they will have the resources upfront to safety complete projects. During a project, any employee has the right to stop work and change the means and methods in the event of an unforeseen condition change to make the job safer. Stopping work for 5 minutes to discuss current field conditions is encouraged, instead compromising safety for the sake of meeting a deadline. This method of safety has driven lots of positive change over the years.
Safety Training
At Break Thru we focus on training methods that encourage employee engagement. This is accomplished by developing programs that rewards employees for completing training outside of their typical workday. We have also redeveloped our Annual Safety for the entire company. Rather than sitting in a large room together, which is standard for the construction industry. We have developed meeting that rotates small groups that provide a more interactive and personal training session.
Having these smaller groups also help provide an environment for front line employees to suggest new ideas. With this, along with monitoring updated industry safety practices, we continue to update and implement new comprehensive safety programs.
