Break Thru was contracted to create several structural floor openings along with the demolition and removal of old architectural build out, mechanical units, and stair structures. This work needed to be carefully coordinated with other trades and the structural engineer. The floor openings were created on several floors, from level 1 down to lower level 3. These new floor openings were utilized for new elevator shafts.
Challenges and Fun Facts:
- The new structural floor openings were created through a mix of cast in place concrete and clay-arched tile floor system.
- Due to the floor structure type, shoring/catch decks were provided for each opening.
- Our team utilized one of our various sized demolition robots, as well as a battery powered mini skid steer to assist with this project.
