Break Thru was contracted to demolish and remove the architectural build out in the building lobby as well as several previous tenant’s architectural build outs from 7 floors in a downtown Chicago high rise office building. This project also consisted of elevator, escalator, selective structural removal, and removal of a large bank vault. The project required high level coordination between all other trades and public safety awareness, since the lobby was required to stay open to tenants as well as the public.
Challenges and Fun Facts:
- Total area of the project was over 310,000 square feet.
- Previous build outs consisted of restaurants, retail, banks, and office spaces.
- Removal of a 3,000 square foot bank vault constructed of 18-inch-thick concrete and steel reinforced walls and ceiling.
- Our team utilized one of our various sized demolition robots, as well as a battery powered mini skid steer to assist with this project.
- All our skid-steers have clean Tier-4 engines. This maintained clean air for crews and building occupants working inside the building. Tier-4 engines also eliminates the lingering smell of diesel exhaust fumes during operation and after work was complete.
