Break Thru was called to remove and clean up the aftermath of a roof collapse over a loading dock at an active grocery store. High winds caused the existing steel to fail and the roof top mechanical units to fall through the roof. Break Thru had to assess the damages and the structural integrity of the remaining building components that were hanging and/or attached to the existing sound structure. Break Thru successfully disassembled and removed the damaged structural and mechanical components without incident.
Challenges and Fun Facts:
- Preplanning and crew coordination were critical prior to starting work.
- Completing this project safely and quickly was the number one priority as the mechanical equipment fed some of the grocery store coolers AND their loading dock was unavailable until our work was complete.
- Portions of the damaged structure needed to carefully be removed to prevent any damaged of the existing structurally sound building.
