Break Thru razed a 300,000 square foot shopping mall. This complex was a mixture of various retail stores including an old grocery store, furniture stores, and a 2-story fitness center beyond their useful life. In addition to clearing the property of the building structures, Break Thru also back filled the foundation and footing voids with recycled stone.
Challenges and Fun Facts:
- There was a suspended concrete swimming pool and spa on the 2nd floor of the fitness center.
- Concrete onsite was recycled and utilized to back fill the foundation and footing voids.
- Over 700 tons of steel were recycled.
An adjacent popular bike path and forest preserve (used by our staff as well!) made dust control throughout demolition more important than ever.
